Best 70s Cover Bands in Minnesota

Whether you’re in Minneapolis or Duluth, these 70s bands are the best Minnesota has to offer.

The 70s Magic Sunshine Band

The 70s Magic Sunshine Band is Minneapolis’s grooviest throwback, serving up a retro-fueled ride through the golden era of AM radio with style, soul, and nonstop energy. Frontman Lance leads the charge on vocals and guitar, delivering the kind of charisma that fills dance floors from the first note. On drums, Kevin “Heavy Keavy” keeps the rhythm tight and the energy high, while Mike “The Fish” shreds lead guitar and adds smooth harmonies to the mix. Aaron “The Living Legend, AC” holds down the bass with a funky pulse and rock-solid vocals, and Jeff “Telly” rounds it all out on keys, guitar, harmonica, and whatever else the set demands. Their repertoire reads like a ’70s jukebox – ABBA, Elton John, The Doobie Brothers, KC and the Sunshine Band, Hall & Oates, and dozens more – all performed with pitch-perfect precision and a wink of disco flair. From Bunker’s Bar & Grill to the Minnesota State Fair, this band has become a staple of the Midwest music scene. With bell bottoms, big hair, and bigger hooks, The 70s Magic Sunshine Band doesn’t just play the hits, they throw the party. The 70s Magic Sunshine Band is all about immersive, era-specific tribute entertainment – think choreographed nostalgia and note-perfect renditions. https://70smagicsunshineband.com

The Drive

Drive is a high-energy cover band born from the borderlands of North Dakota and Minnesota, fusing raw talent, real instruments, and a love for live music into a full-throttle stage show. Leading the charge is AnneMarie Brack, a dynamic vocalist with a sharp wit and a voice that belts every note like it’s the last song of the night. Guitarist Tim Sharp brings blistering solos and emotionally charged vocals, while Rich Myers rounds out the six-string section with grit, heart, and decades of rock ‘n’ roll war stories. Jake Litwin, a Midwest keyboard veteran, adds melodic mayhem and smooth harmonies from his rig, and Jeff Rudy anchors the group with bass lines that hit as hard as his rock-heroic spirit. Behind the kit, Spenser “Click” Narum drives the rhythm with precision and passion—pots and pans were just the beginning. Together, Drive covers everything from alternative and classic rock to country and punk, serving up a setlist as diverse as their personalities. Known for skipping the tracks and keeping it 100% live, this band brings authenticity, musicianship, and fun to every show. Whether rocking a local stage or packing out a wedding dance floor, Drive is pedal-to-the-floor entertainment, built to move crowds and make memories.
